Youth Activities: Protection and Engagement Group

The Youth Activities: Protection and Engagement Group, led by staff from the Office of Youth Protection, invites participation from all staff at the University of Wisconsin–Madison who have an interest in activities for youth. The group hosts monthly meetings (from September through May) to discuss creating safe and effective environments for young people participating in activities hosted by UW-Madison. Topics include updates on relevant policies, laws, and licensing requirements. Effective implementation of requirements in an environment that supports growth and development of youth participants will be addressed.

It is highly recommended that at least one representative from each youth activity on campus attends each meeting. Group members include:

• current and prospective youth activity directors, administrators, and staff; and
• professionals from the Office of Youth Protection, Compliance, Risk Management, Housing and Conference Services, University Health Services, and other departments that support youth activities on and off campus.
