Youth Protection Designees
Each School/College/Division of UW-Madison has a Youth Protection Designee. Youth Protection Designees are UW-Madison employees designated by the dean or chief executive of the authorizing unit.
What is a designee?
Youth Protection Designees are UW-Madison employees designated by the dean or chief executive of the authorizing unit. Youth Protection Designees are responsible for authorizing youth activities and third-party youth activities operating through, or otherwise associated with, that school/college/division.
How to get written approval
Youth activities must obtain written approval from their Youth Protection Designee at least
14 days before the activity begins. Approval may be documented in several ways, including an email, letter, or a form developed by the school, college, or division. Units may also use the Youth Activity Authorization Template linked below.
Units are encouraged to consult with their Youth Protection Designee to determine the preferred method for communicating and documenting approval.
